Dutch Apple Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 cup apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts

Preparation:

Cream sugar and butter. Combine buttermilk and soda. Stir into creamed mixture. Add eggs, vanilla, flour and salt. Beat well. Fold in apples and nuts. Put in greased and floured bread pan (1 large or 2 small).

Topping: 2 TB butter, 2 TB sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon and 2 TB flour. Mix together and sprinkle on top of batter. Press lightly with fork. Bake at 350° F or 45-50 minutes.
