Italian Anise Cookie
Dough Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Anise seeds
- 4 lbs flour
- 1 lbs Crisco
- 3 tsp cake amonia
Icing Ingredients:
- 3 boxes powdered sugar
- 14 oz. cream
- 2 drops anise oil
Preparation:
This wonderful recipe has been handed down through generations. Cookies have a slighlty licorice flavor.
Boil anise seeds in 2 cups of water boil down to 1-1/2 cups set to cool, when cool mix all dough ingredients. Roll out dough use cookie cutter to cut in shape you prefer.
Put on ungreased baking sheet in 350° F oven. Cool. Mix ingredients for icing and pour thinly over cool cookies.
