Best Dill Pickles

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart vinegar, white
  • 3 qts. water
  • 1 cup canning salt
  • cucumbers
  • cloves of garlic
  • sprigs of fresh dill
  • 1/2 tsp alum
  • hot pepper

Preparation:

Heat vinegar, water and canning salt to a boil. Place cucumbers in clean, sterile jars. Place a clove of garlic, sprig of fresh dill, 1/2 tsp of alum, and hot pepper in bottom of jar.

Fill with hot solution and seal.
